How Can I be Sure Im Pregnant?

Most pregnancy tests are very reliable. However, to diagnose and confirm a viable pregnancy, a visit to a healthcare provider like First Choice will be necessary. We offer FDA-approved, laboratory-quality pregnancy tests. If your test is positive, you can be evaluated by one of our nurses to receive confirmation of pregnancy by ultrasound all at no charge to you. Our medical clinic provides limited obstetrical ultrasounds for reasons of confirming a viable uterine pregnancy, cardiac activity, and approximate gestational age. A pregnancy test and ultrasound are the only way to know for certain if you have a viable pregnancy.

Could I be having a miscarriage?

A positive pregnancy test alone should never be used in determining an abortion decision, as its important to know that 15-20% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.* Additionally, some pregnancies occur outside of the uterus, also known as an ectopic pregnancy. The best way to determine if you have a viable uterine pregnancy is to have an ultrasound. An ultrasound will help determine how far along your pregnancy is and will also determine if your pregnancy is viable through the presence of a fetal heartbeat.

At First Choice, let us provide you with these free, safe, and confidential services:

  • Confirmation of Pregnancy
  • Ultrasound
  • Education on Abortion and Your Options
  • Info on the Morning After Pill and the Abortion Pill

Which abortion procedure?

The most important factor in determining the abortion procedure for which a woman would qualify for is how far a woman is into her pregnancy. Other factors include what type of anesthesia is available, what is the cost of the procedure, and what are the potential health risks of an abortion. It is tough to think clearly when you are in a crisis because the easiest solution is to panic and react quickly in a way that you believe will eliminate a problem. At First Choice, we want to help you think clearly without anyone rushing you into making a choice. This is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make in your life. Dont you want to make an informed choice?

An ultrasound will help determine how far along your pregnancy is and will also determine if your pregnancy is viable through the presence of a fetal heartbeat. Call First Choice today for a free ultrasound consultation our all-woman staff is here to help you. During your visit, you will learn how far along you are and the associated risks for the procedure(s) you are considering.

Do you have an abortion already scheduled?

Take your time. If you're pregnant and it wasn't quite planned, take a deep breath and try not to panic. Even though you're not the first person this has happened to (and won't be the last), the fact that it's your life makes it a big deal, right? Just don't rush into a decision.

You can't change what has happened, but you can carefully consider your next step. You may feel pressure to make a quick decision. Instead, give yourself some time. Where you go from here will have a significant impact on your life. You have options, so make an informed decision.

Do you have all the facts about what you need to do before your appointment? Visit First Choice to take advantage of the free services we offer before your abortion appointment!

Do abortions have risks?

Abortion procedures have multiple risk factors, ranging from immediate to long term complications. Risks can be physical, such as heavy bleeding, infection, cramping, damage to internal organs, RH sensitization, complications with future pregnancies, emotional, or psychological (depression and anxiety). Serious medical complications occur infrequently in early abortion, but increase with later abortion. (pubmed.gov) (ccogwomenshealth.com) (acog.org)

Before making a life-changing decision, it is for your health and safety that you receive all the education possible. At First Choice, we have no financial gain from your decision. (This is why you will not receive a bill.) You can learn more about the possible complications of abortion during an appointment. Were here for you you are not alone.
